Phourni Minoan Cemetery on Juktas sacred hill
The visit to one of the most sacred hills on Crete follows. The hill of Juktas, the death place and rebirth place of the most important God of historic Crete, Zeus, as a survival and continuation of the worshipping ritual of the Minoan “Great Mother” Goddess . A plethora of unique sites are located there dated from 3000bc down to 1100bc, such as Phourni cemetery with its Minoan and Mycenean prehistoric tombs.
Interactive Art session: The ancient Greek Theater in theory and practice
In a theater located inside the beautiful natural park you will explore the ancient Greek Theater in theory and practice through a two hours interactive experiential workshop. What do we know about the ancient tragedies? How is the worshiping of Dionyssos involved in the ancient theater practice? How does it feel taking part ourselves in an ancient Greek theater play?
Your lab consists of theory, i.e. a lecture on the ancient Greek theater/drama, its origins and development, and practice, which includes acting, dance, movement and ‘logos'(speech) lessons working on an ancient drama text.
Lunch in the Neoclassical Town of Archanes
You will enjoy our lunch in the Neoclassical small town of Archanes, where you have the chance of tasting the homemade Cretan cuisine in one of the town’s “mezedopolia” traditional restaurants serving local delicacies.
